Body lift and tires

Wondering how much body lift can be put in a M1008 without "issues", and then how tall of a tire could be used to try to get to M1009 fuel mileage.

why use a body lift ? what size tires are you looking to run ? do you have a M1008 or a M1009 ?

I was all into the idea of a body lift on my M1009. Until I saw how it looked. The bumpers being attached to the frame had a huge gap between them and the body. To compensate for this the shop wanted to alter the recovery/tiedown clevis mounts. This would have rendered them "decorations". Go with a suspension lift.

I looked into putting a body lift on my truck a while back and noticed that the manufactures say that they wont work with the chevy 6.2L diesel equiped trucks. Apparently useing a body lift will cause a 6.2L truck to overheat. People say that you can put electric fans on these trucks and that will correct the issue but at that point you will have almost as much money invested as a real suspension lift. The only reason I can really think of to put a body lift on one of these trucks is to make room under the hood for a cummins.

Did a body lift on an old K-10, was continually breaking the bolts, might have been how I was using the truck though...all of the other trucks, I used regular suspension lifts, aka springs.

for 09 mileage on an 08, gear vendors unit, change the pumpkin gears, OD tranny. You might get close.

^Ditto. You can run 37 or 38s on your truck w/o body lift, minimal rubbing, or trim front fender lip like mine. I am vehemently against body lifts as form follows function. Just my two pennies with all due respect.

I have a 1 inch body lift on my m1008. I like it and you can barley tell. I would not go more than 1inch though on a non mud truck.

I agree, I've got an ORD 1" body lift and poly body mounts on my M1008 and really like it.

With the 1" body lift, 1" Zero Rates with the axle moved forward 1", and minor fender trimming, I easily run 315/70R17's.

I was looking into the ORD body lifts also any good pics on how it looks.

Im running a 2.5" lift with blocks in the back. Thinking about the 1" body lift and 1" zero rates I already have unistalled. Then removing the rear blocks for a 4" shackle flip. And add drop pitman arm for steering correction. Are leave it the way it is

Any advice
