brake adjusting tool

What's the preferred tool and method to adjust the brakes on the M939 series trucks? The manuals are not too specific, and we were in a pinch, so removed the inspections covers and used a screwdriver. Would just like to be better prepared next time.

I would use the Red screwdriver not the Blue one. The star wheel adjusting tool has two different angles to get into tight places only if needed.

If this is what your looking for it is generally called a brake adjustment gauge. Here is one I have for cars. Not sure if a car one would be big enough for the deuce (haven't tried yet). They use to be used a lot with drums but not as much anymore.
