Hello again
When I hit the brakes every once and a while I get a for lack of a better word howl out of the brakes I think it is my front brakes dont do it all the time just once and a while is a little occasional noise normal or do I have to start looking into brakes.
In the resources section what tm deals with brake inspection and installation of new shoes? adjustments Ect.
Thanks Jerry

Jerry, check your hold down hardware. Older axles had a different shoe retaining device and they are prone to failure. If left alone too long they will cause the shoes to cut right through a drum.

You can also find new shoes on e bay for around 45 dollars a set of 4. Check the drums for over heating, groves, glazing etc. If they look OK sand the shoes and drum to scuff them up a little. Reassemble and adjust.

So... is it possible for one side's air to fail and leave one side still working?
I cracked my trailer hookup hand valves yesterday to see if what I suspected was true. My left side had no pressure at the hand valve. The right side has PLENTY of pressure.
Is there some sort of check valve I'm not seeing or is this the problem I think it is?

Right side glad hand has air pressure all the time, left side only has pressure when the brakes are applied.

There are 4 spots for hold downs. Looking at it as a clock they are at 2:30, 4:00, 8:00 and 9:30.
Old style will have what looks like a flat button head in the above mentioned spots. They are like on a car, a pin and keeper. If you have the new style hardware, you'll see 5/16 nuts in the above spots.
