Some of you may have noticed that a lot of the links in old posts don't work any more. While fixing my post in the CUCV FAQ I discovered the following workarounds. First I went to the old forum and went to the post. Clicking on the link there didn't work either, but I was able to find the post by cutting and pasting the topic number into the address bar. For example, the FAQ post address is:

http://old.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=21464

My post had two links to older topics:

I would rate this as the third most common problem, but probably the most expensive one if you don't know what to do when it happens.

CUCVs have an extra starter relay under the dash. It is known to either rust and not work making the truck not start or to stick in the on position letting the starter run until the wiring harness or the starter itself burns up and is permanently damaged. You should read the two links below and the links mentioned in them before you even put batteries in the truck. This is probably the most important thing to know and to think about so you will know what to do should it happen to you.

I simply copied the topic number into the address line and was able to go the the desired post. To say it another way, I replaced 21464 with 19812 and was able to read the topic I had linked to. If the links on the old site are to something outside of steelsoldiers they still work. Of course this will only work as long as the old site is still available. Any idea how long that is going to be?
