Ive posted pics in the trailers section, but never really given the truck its time in the spotlight. Not a military truck or restoration, but its root are from the military and it was always known as that. Hope theres some new viewers that haven't seen it from the trailers section

Man I love how the old power wagons look and yours is a beauty. I've ran across a few dressed out as fire trucks that I would have loved to get my hands on. Here's one:

Agreed, and I second the motion.

My Power Wagon was an early 70's model, with an awesome power train (318, and a granny gear that could move mountains) but it just wasn't real good looking (and at the time I didn't really care). But the truth is that the 60's and 70's was about the weakest era of overall design in the history of the world. I mean look at all the federal office buildings here in DC from that building boom: a bunch of big boxes with flush glass. It's all just plain ugly.

But there is value in good industrial design. And that Power Wagon shows it. It looks good: strong, robust. SOMEBODY thought it all through.

That's one thing that John Deere recognized in the day: they knew engineering but they also wanted their tractors to LOOK strong, and they invested in that. And it helped them sell just a WHOLE lot of tractors.

Good design has its place: the product needs to work "good" (engineering) but importantly also look good (industrial design).

It all adds up. And THAT Dodge has got it!

Yeah the first generation Power Wagons are great looking trucks. The advertising campaign of the era fit in neatly with it, and unlike a lot of ads, there's not a lot of puffery there - a power wagon with a chain saw in the bed really can go just about anywhere...

It would be a treat to see a shot of the block (on my old Power Wagon, it was just mean-and-clean in that engine compartment).
