I stand here as a man who has now changed a hmmwv run flat tire. Exhausted haha.
two or three things of note:
- The cherry picker method worked awesome. Pulled everything apart no problem. See this video for reference
- Feltz ratchet strap method worked fine for the run flat. Ratchet it as tight as you can, then ratchet it about five more times. Constantly check both sides for lips and edges hanging up. I found myself fighting and prying several times only to flip it over and find something easy was hung up.
- Finally, regarding the O rings: Mine was in sub par condition and not a plump round o ring. I washed it with soap and warm water, then massaged it with dielectric grease. It sealed perfectly fine with 60 psi. I did the soapy water test and it was good. If you do decide to chance it reusing the o ring, it’s not that hard to get back in that far. In an ideal world it should be changed, but sometimes good enough is okay too.
