6.5L does it have a GEP sticker on the left valve cover?
You can tell it is a 6.5L by the bolt holding the oil pump drive.

GEP didn't come out until around 2000 or so, so this won't be one of them.

Here's how to tell the difference between 6.2 and 6.5 easily.

Well you cannot say that, not all HMMWVs have the engine they were produced with, in fact many don't

The date should be stamped into the block just behind the passenger side cylinder head, visible from the passenger seat with the doghouse removed.
