change in oil pressure

On the way home today from a Memorial day event, I glanced down at the oil pressure guage and was surprised to see that I had only around 35 psi at speed( 4th and 5th) and nothing at idle ! The engine was running fine as usual, and after pulling over and checking it as much as I could, kept going and made it home with no problems. it has a 60 psi sender and guage and had been holding 35 psi or so hot. I have not put a mechanical guage on it yet, but will tomorrow. Any other suggestion will be helpful.

Did it used to have higher oil pressure than that(hot)?

Is your FDC bypassed?

Check for fuel in your oil(dilution).

Any loss of oil? (leaks)

Any gain of oil? (dilution)

You will lose some pressure as the oil gets hot, but you should never have a zero reading at idle.

Thanks.....we changed the oil a couple weeks ago...no leaks then or now. It was topping out at 60 till warmed up then around 35 when warm, and idle. I have not checked for dilution yet cause it's raining but will...then what? should I bypass the FDC ?

Bypassing would be the quickest thing to do...after you change the oil again if there is dillution.

If there is no oil dillution, what grade oil did you put in? It may have thinned excessively under heat and pressure. I always use Rotella 15W40 and add a little lucas to it.
