Charging Deuce Batteries

Is there such a thing as a good way to charge the batteries in the truck, or should I take them out and charge them one at a time? I am looking into buying new batteries at the moment, but due to some issues right now do not have the time or money. I want to charge the batteries that are in it now but don't know the best way to go about it.

Just use a standard 12volt charger and hook it up to one battery at a time, no need to unhook or remove them.

I run my truck 2-3 times a week. I charge the batteries, burn some fuel and pretend I am back in Kansas with Toto, Dorthy and Aunty Em.

harbor freight has a 24/12 volt battery charger for around $50.00. i bought 1 about 3 months age and love it. it is chinese, but the only other 24 volt one i found where over $250. i used to charge them one at a time but this is a lot better.

This is true most of the time, but if your batteries are running down fairly quickly and need recharging often, you may have a voltage drain even though the truck is turned off. In that case, when you apply 14 volts across one battery you will be applying a reverse charge to the other one which will accelerate it discharging. I usually remove one wire when I use a 12 volt charger just to be safe, but if you know your truck can sit for long periods of time and still crank and then you accidentally leave something on and it needs to be charged, it would be OK to not unhook anything. There is no need to remove them all in any case.

on my batteri box it a warning label that you sould disconeckt the + and -cabels before charging the batteris. if you youse a 24v charger leave the dogbone on the batteris. then connekct + and - from the charger.
this is what i do.

If you guys searched this site, you would see that most of the opinions and comments in this thread have been posted on this site before. How many times does the same info need to be said or debated? There are several options and most of them are fine.


Ever try making one of them potato batteries to charge your mv with? How many potatoes in series would I need? I could make french fries when the batteries are charged,eat the fries,and pour the veggie oil that I fried them in, in that tank. That is as close to perpetual motion as you can get!

btw, what key fits a cucv,( what if, but, i know someone that, I saw, ....?)

These trucks don't have 24 volt batteries.

Hard to argue logic like that, I think I'll get some double A batteries at the drug store and hook(strap) 16 of them up in series, and quit wasting my money on 6tl's or group 31's, what was the government thinking? Think of all the tax money wasted!

Now you are talking apples and oranges. 16 AA straped together would would be a 24v battery but not enough amps to turn a engine over but that is how they do some cordless plone batteries, they just strap AA batteries together to get whatever volts they need and then tape them. Wayne
