Where is the cheapest place to get the axle nut/spindle socket? Local place wants >30 dollars. Are the front and rear the same size nut?

This is the 3" nut holding the hub/bearings onto the spindle. I need to get the hub off to do some brake work....

The 3-inch octagonal socket is a KDS2445 and Carquest or NAPA will have it for about $35.
You may need a 3/4 to 1/2 reducer too and a torque wrench is a must if you want to to it right.

Don't you want to ask for a <FONT color=red>finders fee[/color] BEFORE giving out the info on where to get the socket set?

:p

Yeah, a finders fee! Great idea! Nothing like bending over your friends. BTW, I found this big lake full of jet boat parts, any interest?

I love to swap things around. I think that is always the best way for me. I'll take stuff you are sure you don't need in exchange for something you want, because sooner or later, you run across someone who needs that item. I am slowly accumulating a small supply of deuce items, sooner or later I'll build another truck out of the pile.

Here is the link www.etoolcart.com Type OTC1903 into the search function. It should show @ $19.45. I had thought it was a pretty good price till today! Dave

I know it's a really old thread, but for anyone else looking to save a bit of $$$ compared to NAPA or whoever, item is $31.58 shipped and they have it in stock.

No one in my local area sells this part, even NAPA, but all can have it shipped in for about $45. Had actually ordered from another online vendor (NXTools) but it turned out they drop ship this item directly from KD Tools, who informed them today that KD 2445 is a discontinued item. Sucks as I was hoping to work on swapping my hubs back for duals this weekend! aua

Scott, my NAPA here had it for me next day. Don't have the part number here, look for a place that sells big truck tools.
Yeah, my NAPA said they could have it next week out of Miami because of the holiday. I originally was gonna get it from them last week but try9ing to save a few bucks I ordered it online from what I thought was a reputable vendor.

Live and learn....guess I'll do the rear axles next weekend now instead of this weekend....
