Clutch and Bellhousing needed for a 5.9 Install

I am installing a Cummins 5.9L 24V out of a 2003 Dodge into my deuce. This engine was mated up to an automatic transmission, so I am going to need the flywheel and everything. I would love to keep the original 5spd. transmission, but I can not find the parts to assemble this.

I've been doing a lot reading using the "search" function here, and have found a load of information. Most of it though, has been people fabricating their own parts, or putting things together by trial and error.

Has any one done this swap that has part numbers where I can go into some place like NAPA, and just purchase the parts I need?

I know guys like hotroddeuce and cameo55 have their s**t together making these kind of conversions, and I've been looking through all their old posts, but the ones that have pictures and part numbers are so old the links don't work any more.

any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated !!! Thanks

The bellhousing that is on the deuce trans is an SAE3 housing.16.125 in. The B series has a multitude of flywheel housings that can go on it, I have no idea which flywheel you'll need. The clutch looks like a 14.5 inch.
HTH a bit.

I wasn't sure what motor you had in yours, but I know you have done a lot of modifications to yours. Didn't know if you had come across any of this information or not.

Also, I have contacted several clutch specialist today about making this swap a bolt in. I will keep every one informed of the information I receive.

GREAT !!!!

I can't wait to see it !

I'm pulling my old engine, and installing the 16x20's this weekend. I'm getting really excited about getting this thing together, so seeing your truck in action will really help.

You should call the local medium truck and heavy truck part suppliers they can help you find the right parts.

RE: Re: Clutch and Bellhousing needed for a 5.9 Install

Russ81, Check with my son, {NHDIESEL}. He has a complete set up to convert his 94 Dodge 2500 auto. to a standard trans. I know he bought a Deuce trans. to use behind the 5.9. I think he changed his mind because he put a 4bt into his Dodge Durango with a Dodge 5spd trans. If he doesn't sell the Combo. he will steer u to the right parts suppliers.

RE: Re: Clutch and Bellhousing needed for a 5.9 Install

I've checked with a couple of truck places, and a couple of clutch places, and havn't had any success yet.

I'll PM your son beaubeau. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm curious if anyone has come up with a flywheel part number. I still have my other parts for a Cummins 5.9 to Spicer trans conversion, and may be picking up a Deuce in the near future. I know there are a couple companies that do this, but they don't want to share their info. I would even buy a flywheel from one, but that offer was turned down the last time I asked.

I know the bellhousing is an SAE #3, and I have the Cummins flywheel housing to match. I have tried medium duty truck shops, but they all seem to want a truck's VIN # to look up the parts, and either won't, or can't, look it up by make/model. Otherwise just using, for example, a 2000 Ford F650 with a 5.9 Cummins would work.
