Anyone got a Compression tester I can borrow or know where I can buy one for a Multifuel engine?Seen several threads but none give a "Yes,this is the one you need" answer.

I've got one that may work. It's a tester with a tapered rubber boot on the end. You have to really hold it good to make a good seal over the injector hole but I haven't found a diesel engine it wouldn't work on yet. Just haven't tried it on a multifuel. You are welcome to borrow it but I belive it came from NAPA if you just want to pick one up.

I've had it for years and I'm not 100% sure it came from NAPA but I'm pretty sure. Here's a pic I found on the web that's just like the one I have.

A compression tester is quick but an auto gauge may not work on a diesel. Not what you asked but a leak down tester is better. It does both gas and diesel. It is a bit more work to set up (not much), and can narrow down the fault to point out a bad valve, head gasket, rings, maybe a cracked head. I have an old late 60's/early 70's vintage Sun machine. The leak down unit is in a steel box w/vacuum gauge so you can remove it and set it on a fender. Sun made nice stuff back then. I paid $100 for the whole machine and it came with a base cab. Lots of features incl, a old scope, but the vac and leak down are 2 that get used the most. Check e-bay.

Don't waste the $. If the cylinder has low compression, there will be white smoke all the time and lots of blow-by...that can ONLY be measured with a manometer and compared to a reading from the MFG of the engine...if ANYONE has the specs and measurement procedures for the multi, POST UP! The failed cylinder can picked out by cracking the line going to the injector and watching the smoke to see which cylinder makes it go away. When the failed cylinder is located, the smoke goes away.

The STE-ICE machine has everything you need to do a compression test. Even the adaptor for the multi's injector hole. You might try getting one off of GL?
