32 foot lbs. the compressor also needs to be timed or it will be noisy. there is a hash mark on the comp drive gear. that needs to be aligned with the notch on the compressor mounting flange...on the compressor...the hash mark will be at the 300 position when looking at it from the front. You will need to put the engine at 1-6 tdc before stabbing the compressor.

This means you need to have the #1 and #6 cylinders of the engine at top dead center (does not matter compression stroke vs. overlap) when you install the compressor with the marks lined up as WillWagner said. You can use a barring device and rotate the engine until the timing pin (behind the air compressor, on the back of the gear housing) will push forward into a divot in the back of the gear. Be sure to pull the timing pin back out once it's set so you don't forget it and break it when you then bar or crank over the engine.
