Just got off the horn with Gimp. He says no problems on the fenders and he's searching for Adam (Ferro) right now to see if he can help but either way, the fenders will get moved.

Duh, you would think I know that. He will know when Ferro arrives by all the laughter when that relic M37 shows up.

ya dont need to own green to go!
True...but I do need a years notice so I can save up for gas

To tell ya the truth, I didn't know anything about Aberdeen until last night while poking around the site. I'm still debating on whether I should get a Deuce, or a Motorcycle :? I probably won't be able to afford the insurance on the bike...so I'll probably end up with the Deuce :D

Just returned home from day 1 at Aberdeen. Thursday is family night so I had to come home (wifey said so).

I will be staying there tomorrow night and collecting all those beers folks owe me. From what I could see at departure, a good time was being had by all.

The Red Serial had a smooth ride down to Aberdeen. NO problems at all. We arrived around 1 pm. Overall, the Red Serial had nine vehicles including (2) M1008, (1) M151A2, (1) Pinzgauer 712, (3) M35A2, (1) 5 ton, and (1) Crown Vic Station Wagon Escort Vehicle (driven by yours truly).

There were other Red Serial participants listed on the web site but they never met up with us. Better planning and organization for next year is a must.

Got this email from Wilf who headed up the Blue serial from Canada again this year:

"Hi...had a fantastic time again, as usual...enjoyed the BBQ...we(Frank Moore, Jeff Armitage, Rick Brown, and myself) headed north towards home at 10:30hrs(Bob Simpson and Brian Oliveri from St. Catherines, ON headed out same time across 22 bound for 74 to take them west and north)...I had three "incidents" with the CUCV...lost the ground to #1 alternator...fixed that, then had had two stops to deal with no lights at all...finally arrived home, just before midnight, with only minutes to spare to give my wife a box of chocolates for Mother's Day....can't wait to see everyone next year...stay safe...Wilf"

Ahh, the trip report...

I got a call last night around 2200 from Ferro saying that he had made it back to Columbia ok. He reported that AMGeneral had a nylon fuel line on his duece spring a leak shortly after they parted from DaveO and I (sad, because the M35 of mine that Dave was driving had spare ferrules and nylon line in the glovebox since I've had this happen before...) but that they were able to swap parts around and continue on down to Cranetrucks' place.

DaveO and I made a swing around Richmond in order to drop off a trailer, snag some fuel, and to talk to a member of the VMVCC who had spotted us going down the road who wanted to chat about seeing a five ton with "don't run" strolling down the road... Drove from Richmond down to Robersonville, NC where we dropped off the M35 at a friend's place. I hung around until DaveO's wife arrived to take him home and then drove on to Raleigh in the XM813 arriving home around 2130.

I have to say that making the trip up in the five ton cargo was a lot less physically demanding then in years past when I've driven the duece... I love my new rig... And it looks so much better with the new top that I got from Winslow (that got installed with some help from AMGeneral, DaveO, and Scrounger).

My Turn,

Well the trip up was somewhat eventful,Ferro had to swap tires on the towed M37 around Charlotte, and after putting the Jeep on the dolly at Henderson NC it dropped a tire as well just north of Richmond. We managed to muscle it up on the M37's bed and strap it down for the remainder of the trip to Aberdeen.

The trip home was somewhat eventful too,Oddball sprung a small leak about 10 miles after Cabell and crew split off,but no worry we fixed it in short order and had no problems for the rest of the trip except for the weather(LOTS O RAIN!!!).I split off from Ferro at Exit 14(I-77) to deliver a NOS tire for Bjorn's XM 757,spent a few minutes walking around and looking at it closely. I left there and contended with the rain some more for the last 2 1/2 hrs home, arriving at 20:30 hrs exactly.

trip numbers are as follows

Fuel burned ...110.6 gallons
Miles traveled 1162
so it averages out at about 10.50 mpg,not bad for a 41 year old Deuce.

Many thanks Brandon for bringing the 8x8 tire, couldn't ask for more!
Wasn't aware that you live in the Western part of NC, perhaps we can "convoy" together next time since my drive to Aberdeen (Doswell) is a long lonely one.
Did you include the cubie (4-1/2 gallon) of biodiesel in the above mpg calculations? :)
