Coolant component builds

so, after pulling the coolant system apart and started cleaning. i noticed the cross over tube #4 and the thermostat housing outlet neck #22 were heavily corroded and at the rolled flared ends, are corroded through and the weld sesm is starting to separate at the rolled end. #25 was also heavily corroded, but luckily, thick enough i don't need another one. i boiled them in CLR and that seemed to have done a good job of removing 90% os the corrosion from them, which is when i noticed the seam splitting and the holes in the lips.

has anyone built these items? I'm not finding them on the surplus sites, so my thoughts are to build them out of stainless. i can get the rolled flared ends and even flared 90s.

They are not common to find unless someone is cutting a truck up.

Just a single piece of pipe and bend it accordingly

No need to buy flared ends, just put a bead of weld around the pipe near where you want the hose clamp to be. Use constant torque hose clamps

what are you calling constant tq clamps? The rolled ends are $7 and the 90 is $27.
The rolled end couplings/necks are 0.057” thick, and im not sure how easy stainless will bend compared to say exhaust/muffler pipe for cars and small tcks/suvs.
If it bends as easy, then yes sir, 1 pipe bent to match the oem with a lil extra (1/2-3/4”) of stick out and as you mentioned, weld a bead then grind/trim the rest off.
It looks though with #22, it is brazed onto the housing flange. I can see what looks like silver solder.

Pinterest has all kinds of pics of homemade tools to make your own crimped/rolled ends on coolant pipes & other projects.

We have a bead roller at work I’d be happy to do that part for you.

Did you try a Cummins dealer using your engine serial number? Quickserve?

I hadnt looked into the dealer, mostly bc im 99% sure the cost will be outrageous and an oem part will be steel, as where im wanting go stainless.
Appreciate the offer of the bead roller, but the rolled end couplings are a few dollars, i need practice tig welding, plus i need to order a fuel tank for my lil cummins that will power my sawmill.
