Couple Questions.. Towing Related

First off, Does anyone have tow bars for sale around northern Indiana?

Second, Not that I want too but can a Deuce tow/tag/pull an 813 without having to fear death? I am looking at several unknown runners, and while they look to be in good condition I need a backup plan if they won't start. I would be traveling 170mi flat ground back roads. I'm hoping they will start and I can either tow the deuce back or have my bro drive it back.

Again, this is worst case if they won't start. But I think they will.rofl

Yeah it's overweight for towing so we can leave that part out.

Thanks

Can a deuce tow a 5 ton? Physically, yes. Practically, no. If I had to move a truck a few miles at low speed with an escort that I could run into if I could not stop, I might chance it. However, I suggest that you avoid this if at all possible. If you have to make a panic stop, you will not be able to do so. I wonder if your insurance covers the use of your deuce in this manner. I suggest that you check into it. Good luck.

Assuming that the towed trucks brake work. I would not advise it, but I guess that it depends on how big of a risk/responsibility your willing to take if they cannot stop. Its only 170 miles. Look into a local transportation carrier, should not cost too much!

An M813 is a lot more weight than a deuce pintle is rated for. There's lots of folks who've done stuff like this but there's nothing in this hobby worth dying for or worth killing someone else over.

Towing

1. Don't know of any tow bars for sale in our area. (I'm in Knox)
2. If I could really come up with a route where I could safely travel slow, I'd tow it if I had to.

But I'd rather put in some effort on site & drive it home if I could.

Yes, I'd much rather drive them home but if by chance there is a major fault that can't be rigged on site I need options:-D... Getting a semi to tow them back is my last personal choice.
