I searched the forum for this and came up with nothing but a bunch of yakity yak. Anyone done this on a M series with the Allison?

Thanks,

Russ

Most people just use their hand throttle since no one really drives that far unless it is to a rally.

You may contact member Profo. He has installed cruise control that is electric on his 5 ton camper and on his LMTV as well.

I just set a tool box on the accel pedal and steer with my knees so I can eat cinnamon rolls and my favorite beverage.

For those who may have an interest, Cruise King says:

Our cruise will work on any mechanical diesel engine. Our instructions cover most Cat and Cummins engine applications so if it is something different from those you may have to modify or engineer brackets to run our cable to you throttle linkage. On some older trucks you may find your speedometer is not electric. If so you will have to purchase a "coil kit" for $40. which provides a speed signal so we know how far to adjust throttle to hold speed. Truck kit is $595.00 Steve 507-334-0250

Another option is the Rostra 250-1223
That's the kit I used to add cruise control to my M1009. I think at least one or two other members here have done it. It was easy peasy on that, because you could plug a vehicle speed sensor kit directly in line with the speedometer cable. Essentially like a speedo cable extension, but with 2 wires coming off it that you you plugged into the cruise control box harness.

But I'm wondering what you'd use on a 5 ton for VSS? I don't like the magnets solution.

Just had a thought... the ABS has wheel speed sensors right? I wonder if that could be used as a vehicle speed signal for the Rostra or other electronic cruise?
