The truck had a lot of rust and sheet metal issues but we knew that going into the project, as we removed panels we found still more rust and have been dealing with these as we go, when done the truck will be very solid with NO bondo, the line superstructure also came with the vehicle and is a rather rare item , the photo shows the kit on a 76 5/4 in Germany 1262663_521943217884397_398104229_o.jpg100_4215.jpg100_4216.jpg100_4217.jpg100_4218.jpg100_4228.jpg100_4227.jpg

I remember in my old unit, we converted a few CUCV's to purpose built trucks. One was a vehicle MRT, one was a weapons, MRT, and a third was a general repair truck to use in and around camps. All of them had a security cage installed and we fitted out the insides as we saw fit. Good luck on the rebuild!

oboyjohn, what was your unit and do you have any photos? we will be doing 3 CUCV's , Line, Cratts (Ratt Rig for you guys down south) and a Rad Van, I think we have a truck to slide under the Cratts pod, need to see if it will run , take a look at my other post (2 more come home) , it sounds like we were the same Corps, ARTE ET MARTE ? My first CUCV , I've had it for 15 years now spent it's life out of CFB Ottawa,

I want to put this out there for you. I still have 2 real nice cabs. One is rust free the other is in need of cab corners only. I just wanted to mention that to help pou save some cash and labor. And help myself sell them of course. I just thought I would mention that. The one you have shown is very bad.

MRT - Mobile Repair Team ie. guys that turn wrenches
Rad Van - Radio Truck , with the CDN pod in place of the cargo bed
take a look under Canadian CUCV or 1976 Chevy 5/4 (the first CUCV)

Hi EME411. I was also a maintainer at 51 Svc Bn just south of Montreal at St. Hubert. I was there for 27 years and took my retirement in 2011. I do not think that we took any pictures of the trucks, but you never know. I will dig around in my boxes of pictures to see if by chance I snapped a picture of the inside. What was your unit?

I started as a Rad-op in 81 with a Reserve unit out of Fort York, got out in 85 due to my Civy job, spent 36 years with Mercedes-Benz , went back in 90 and re-badged to EME,
stayed with 709 Comm Regt the whole time, was not a happy camper after the G-Wagon showed up we had the contract at work for major components (piece of crap), even the LS was better and that's saying a lot, did you get a coin last year from the school? if not let me know,

What coin are you talking about? EME coin? I have not touched the G-wagon with a wrench but I did work on the Actros a lot when they came back from across the pond and they appeared to be a well built truck. Granted they are complicated ( something like 15 on boead computers linked with a Can-Bus system) and the cab hydraulics are not easy to access and diagnosis, but they did the job they were designed for: transport material and save the lives of the crews in IED attacks.

well , winter has been a roller coaster ride with the temp up here but we move ahead, all major welding is now complete, all bubba wiring has been removed and lots of electrical repair is complete, everything back to stock , dash rebuilt , finishing the putty work on the cab , chassis cleaned and painted , bumper replaced, next is the tank hangers and new tank and a timer card, then fire her up, brake work in the rear, and get the bed back on,100_4405.jpg100_4407.jpg100_4411.jpg100_4438.jpg100_4440.jpg100_4450.jpg
