That's funny. The Hellfire looks high-tech and brand new to me, and the CUCV looks old, even though both were in the future when I ETS'd.

I guess my brain is still stuck at TOW missile, since that's what I did when I was in, and I never heard of a CUCV until they were surplus items.

Looks like control cables off the side, but there is definitely a tow strap on the front. Wonder if it was a shell or non operational truck, so no worries if it blew up.

It looks like it was a running truck as there is mud on the bottom of the door. They probably put the tow straps on incase they had a "misfire" of one of the Hellfires and needed to tow it to a safe place to defuse it. I know I wouldn't get in a truck with a armed Hellfire !

And, from those pics, no black-out lighting, slave receptacle, nor rear lifting shackles. The camo pattern is clearly non-issue, and is like a strange combination of MERDC and early NATO.

Given that my M1009 was manufactured in Jan, 1983 and is wearing true MERDC-scheme camo, with all of the above mentioned items, too, I'd say it is more than likely a mock-up made by Rockwell using a CUCV grille-guard and bumper/front shackles for "effect".

And most likely has an np205 transfer case also which is what the civilian K30s had. Surprised the drip guards over the doors were at least removed.
