But the as it warms up it runs horrible and by horrible I mean the motor feels like it is bogged down and it won't go over 25mph. It started after I was trail riding and I crossed a creek to fast and it sucked water in the intake I removed that c.eaned it all, drained the oil it wasn't milky at all but it is still bogging down. Could it be the head gasket, I haven't got a chance to look it over for leaks yet. Planing to snorkle it after I get it running right agin :)

I had a similar issue with my four wheeler when some water came in through the air intake. It started fine, but when it warmed up it would die and not start back up again until it cooled back down. The water got under the piston and As the motor warmed up the water heated and built up enough pressure so the piston would not go back down.

Typically black smoke is not enough air, white smoke is unburned fuel (lack of combustion) and blue smoke is oil.

Water does not compress so if it got into the moving parts there could be serious issues.

What about something I have read on this site: loosening the fuel line to each injector one at a time to see if the engine runs worse or stays the same when loaded. Running worse would indicate a good injector/cylinder and running the same would indicate a bad injector/cylinder.

Had similar problems with my 1009 changed out the fuel filter base and filter. Also bye passed the mechanical fuel pump and put in a electric pump. It runs like a champ! Also a oil change with a quart of Lucas is a good place to start. These are all cheep places to start.

Good luck and keep us posted.

How has this project turned out? I have the same issue, local mechanic believes the woodruff key is worn out, causing the crankshaft to be "off time" and that throws off the injection pump. That diagnosis is looking expensive!

My M1008 has a cracked head, picking up new ones at the Ga. rally, when warm there would be white smoke, actually steam. What does it smell like, is there moisture coming out the tail pipe, taste it. Does it smoke out one side or both. After it is warm and you shut it off and let it sit for several minutes does the engine crank right over or does the starter have a hard time cranking it over indicating coolent in the cylinder and partially hydro locking the engine.

If there's water in there, regrettably it wasn't I that had that kind of fun! Oh well, soon enough I hope!

I think I will change over to the round filter style and replace the fuel lines, just for starters...
