CV boot clamp. How ? Tool?

I do have them both. The tool one on the left, i use for a small clamp, i can't figure out how to use tool on the right, on the big clamp i have on the picture, i been using it in the past but with the different type of clamps/tie's.

You feed the slack through and tighten the screw/nut till the slack out and twist/cut the excess off and use the other pliers to tighten the nub like the smaller clamp is what I recall.
