Besides the dash mounted data plate, is there another place on the cab or frame to find the year of manufacture?

What truck? M809 series, M939 series, etc, etc

And the answer is no. With the VIN you might be able to find out the year.

I have a 1985 M923A1 with VIN C52309965 and the new truck is a M925A1 C52503012.
