Well, I made it home... A very comfortable, and uneventful 20 hour drive, over two days. Thanks to everyone that was on-call for any issues.

And NOW the brakes go out. Parking brake Friday, Hydrolic this morning. Good part is she decided to get ornery while parked in front of my house, and not while moving.

Oh, btw Gunboy, you're holding the wrong .50 cal for the family.

What you don't like my squirrel gun?

Glad to hear it waited to have issues until you had it home. It is a pain climbing under them on the side of the road, or in a parking lot.

Monica,
Congrats on a successful mission.

Now for the post-ops cleaning and repair of your equipment. You are fortunate that the brakes held out for the travels, now for the maintenance sisde of owning OD Iron - The driving part is only 25% of the fun or less [thumbzup]

You are a leader amongst women. You have my sincere SALUTE -

Update: went over around 7:00PM and she had it fixed. We spend another thirty minutes bleeding the system. Brake peddle feels solid.

I took some photo's to explain what caused the failure.

1. The spring holding the front drivers side brake hose broke.
2. The hose then flex against the axle.
3. Vibration from driving started wearing a hole in the line.
4. Line finally broke which lead to "no brakes"

I told her name the truck "lucky". It runs and sounds great. I had great time and always enjoy working on deuces. She has driven this truck more in a day than i have in a year. I am a wimp.

She's ornery, my baby is. I needed a third hand, so I called in a buddy, since Steven was still at work. I get off the phone, he's on his way, and I get the bolts to break loose.

We're working on getting the brake line installed, tire side, which, given clearance (none) and the hose's tendency to flex when trying to thread it into position (a LOT) it was looking to be a three hand job again. Tom gets a phone call, steps away, I'm trying to figure out alignment, and it threads in beautifully.

Basically, she didn't want me to get help, she wanted me to have an audience. Prima Donna truck!

When work on your parking brake, look closely at the big nut on the end of the cable. If it has no jamb nut, they can and will vibrate and loosen up, causing it to "feel" like the cable is constantly stretching.

If you don't have a jamb nut, I would add one.

Vibrated loose is exactly what seems to have happened. Jamb nut added, and I also added a thread-loc type compound (I don't remember the actual name of the compound I used)
