Even though they came equipped on (some or most all?) Marine based M939’s, I’ll post this here for those that are considering to add such Detroit Lockers to their truck. Randomly there seems to be interest and questions about these. I have 2 which are uninstalled, so I thought I would post some pics as info about them. Hat tip to CSM Davis, all of the cool stuff I have has come from him.

The 5 ton Detroit Lockers are mechanical unit inserts which reside in the ring gear differential carrier, taking place of the spider gears and cross shaft pins.

The outer halves which are splined to each driveshaft are cogged to a cogged central ring which is fixed to the carrier via the 4 spider gear cross pin bosses as a single common piece, and held together via spring pressure forcing each half into the central ring.

Clint, soooo, you are parting out your truck now?
Cute.

No, with most people not going into work, I’m considering to finally do the mods I have accumulated. But gun turret ring first. Then tires, dump bed, then ISL/13sp.

How’s retirement? You moonlighting for hospital generator maintenance?

Nah, I don't fancy generators. I just got done with a 7.3 in a ford. Those things are fugly! Settling into life nicely, but I have found that If I take too many days off from a routine, I get bored.

Lies! I don't believe you! You will never fix that truck! Have you ever put the rear window in? No coconuts for you!

Well, good morning Negative Nancy. You all bound up because they closed your oyster place? It's great to hear from you regardless, as always.

Naw Half Shell Oyster House is doing good ole curbside pickup and what a deal! $45 for salads, steaks, sides, and desserts for 2! And with gas under a $1 per gallon and diesel fuel at $1.50 I think I have it a few times this month!

How many miles can you get out of the no spin lockers, before they wear out. Or if they even wear out at all.
I had over 200k on one in the front tandem. I wore out a pinion bearing once. That was all I ever wore out on the axles in 400k miles on 1 truck. I only ever had 1 pinion seal leak and needed to be replaced as well.
