Deuce cold weather starting problem!!!!!

I must be lucky. I have had 3 deuces and currently have two. All the trucks started fine down to -20 here in NW Iowa. Luckily, I haven't needed to try them any colder. Of the 3, 2 were/are N/A. The turbo truck starts fine too but not as quickly as the N/A's. The trucks sure makes a lot of interesting noises at -20.

You don't even have to disconnect the center cable, Just connect the 12 volt charger to the battery's positive & negative posts, that you wish to charge. If you have two 12 volt chargers, charge both at once, the same way. That charger doesn't care what the battery is hooked to, as long and you just connect to its two terminals.

This reminds me it's time to do the battery PM. clean the cables and terminals, check the electrolyte and add distilled water if required, etc.

Funny you say that OPCOM, I know someone (NOT me and I will not say who) that left the master on after moving his deuce away from dangerously leaning tree. Went out the next day to start it and lets just say he get to do a battery pm in the 10 inches of snow!!

Batteries are nasty little hand grenades just waiting to blow if mishandled. I know, I had a battery blow up in a high school auto shop class when I taught high school. There fore I am very careful about "doing things by the book" and leaving myself a big margin of safety. I have seen other battery mishaps during jump start attempts, so I try to be careful, having seen another battery blow up due to open flames nearby setting off the explosive gas in the battery. Yes, you can get away with alot of marginal things, but sooner or later the odds will work against you. If you want to give yourself a small easy margin of safety, at least wear some eye protection when working on batteries. You ought to see how deeply an explosive battery can drive metal and plastic particles into your face. Not a real pretty site!!

I can't imagine an issue requiring the batteries to be disconnected when using one 12V charger. The thing to be careful of when using two 12v battery chargers is to ensure that the they are electrically isolated. In other words, neither the + or - 12V terminals of the charger is tied to the 120V line, neutral, or ground.
