Deuce driver seat questions

Does anyone know if the cushions for the older style box seat base and the newer sprung seat use the same cushions?

I'm looking for a lower cushion for a box seat and both cushions for a sprung seat.

Does anyone have any good clean cushions looking for a home?

No, they are not the same. I got new vinyl covers from Idaho Motor pool, for the box seat, and went to a local auto upholstery shop and got some dense foam that they use for seats, My butt likes it! Do you have the wood base for the box seat? If not, I could snap a pic and give you the dimensions of it so you could make one.

That truck is still at Fort Drum but it has the seat box and springs. I'm 6'4" and one son is 6'6" so in the interest of longer leg room, I'd like to try keeping the older style seat for a while and see if my old back tolerates it as well as my young back did 30 plus years ago.

When you refer to dense foam, I wonder if a hunk cut out of a GI closed cell sleeping mat would work.

Do you know is canvas covers are available, as opposed to vinyl?

Thanks to all

Lance

I looked a bit for canvas, but opted for the vinyl due to, 1-the vinyl can be wiped clean. 2- vinyl won't stain the butt of your pants if you are wearing clothes that shouldn't be getting dirty, like when you are dropping the truck off for a static display BEFORE church...go ahead laugh. 3- you won't have that great canvas smell when you shouldn't...see #2 above. The dense foam comes in different thicknesses and can be shaved for contour. I think it cost me $10 or so for enough to do the bottom and back of the drivers seat and the back of the passenger seat and still had enough left to give Hole some to do one of his seats.

As to covers I would check with Jatonka. Go to his web site he has nice seat covers available. They are heavy, durable and American Made. I have a decent box seat set I may be willing to part with when I install my spring seat in my truck.
