How cold is real cold? 15 degrees and below, have to floor mine and wait. It has started at 5 degrees. Not sure if my manifold heater works, but I was using it.

The overflow valve can be failed. That will let the fuel bleed back to the tank. If you power it up and let the in tank pump work a bit, I might start easier. How long does it hold pressure after you shut it down?

The LDT-D engine that I took out of Rosie was a hard starter even in warm weather.

Once started in the morning it would start very quickly for the rest of the day but after setting overnight it had to be cranked quite a bit. One quick press of the ether button would wake her up. I always felt it was either a leak in the fuel line that was allowing the fuel to drain back down overnight or the pump was turned down too low.

Looking back, It might of had something to do with the in tank pump that just recently failed.

The engine ran good, sounded good and didn't use oil but it was a bugger to get woke up after setting overnight.

My experiences with hard starting dueces have been from loose fittings on the injector return lines allowing air to get sucked into the lines as the fuel drains down when the engine is not running. My last truck I just snugged them up a bit and it would fire within 1 second or less of touching the start button. My latest truck I had a leak in the flame heater filter and loose fittings all over. I ended up just replacing all the hoses and brass ferrels. It starts up alot quicker now but nothing like my last truck. I think I still have a leak in the flame heater pump. If you still have the clear lines, look for small air bubbles forming in the lines after shutting the engine off. 2cents

If you have pressure, It's either a F/P or injectors. Injectors are the cheaper of the two. You aren't using gas and diesel mix are you?. Mine starts hard if there is too much gas in the mix.

I dont have my manual with me right now and I am kinda new to working on the fuel system part of this truck. How do you turn up the pressure on the pump and where exactly is the adjustment located. Thanks for your help.
