Deuce trailer brake controller?

I just picked up a 1957 Reo shop van today at Forest Park, GA and it has something I have never seen before on the steering column. Unfortunately the nameplate has been painted over and I can't read what it says.

As I was chaining her down  I ran across something else up under her rear.

I have attached pictures of them both, LOL .

It looks to me to be some kind of adjustable trailer brake controller. It is tied into both the brake lines and trailer wiring harness.

Has anyone got one of these that works? The steering column part does not have any wires plugged into it. If that is what it is I would like to try to make it operational.

Oh yeah, it also has the electronic keypad for the light switches. My first one of them.

Back in the old days, they had some "mostly conventional" trailers. That thing on the steering column is a reiostate to control the supply of juice to the electric brakes. I came across a couple of them over the years. I used one to control & adjust 24v to run 12v lights.
