I am new to this forum, have an M35A3 in SW SC and need some mechanical advice and probably a visit to my shop to look at the truck. Problem seems to be with the air system. air pressure will not build when cranking and I her a whirring sound like the pump is not working? Just my uninformed opinion.

Oscar,
Pressure will not build just by cranking, start the engine and let idle for a couple minutes. What is the air pressure after engine has been idling? Is the compressor getting warm/hot? Any air leakage sound coming from under the truck? Copper line off the compressor should get hot if compressor is operating. If not, you may need a compressor. Report back.

Problem is it won't start. Charged batteries, all OK but instead of the loud buzzer I hear a whirring sound like something is spinning. Also, several months prior to this I stopped hearing the bleed off of air as the truck is idling

OK, the whirrling sound is the starter spinning without engagement, starter solinoid is sticking, fix that fist. Try a couple tender taps to the stater when attempting a start. The loud buzzer is the low pressure warning, that should still be operational, if not, it has issues/or no power. Got to get the truck running before trouble shooting the compressor issue.

Oscar,
You're just a couple of miles west of Shealy's BBQ! The whirring sound might also be the in-tank fuel pump, which starts up when the power switch is put in the 'on' position. Usually cannot hear it because of the buzzer when air pressure is low. What do the panel gauges read when the switch is turned on? Make sure the batteries are fully charged if the voltmeter shows anything less than in the green. Also look at the voltmeter when you press the starter button. If it goes all the way into the red, you may need new batteries - it takes a lot of amps to get the starter to turn over! Read the -10 TM and make sure you are following the start procedure.

Oscar,
Lets double check the model of deuce, M35A2, or M35A3. two complete engine drive train packages. The A2 will have an in tank fuel pump, the A3 does not have a pump in the tank. Does the truck have a manual transmission or automatic trans?
Need to load test the batteries, just not top charge them. Report back.

Truck started using 12 volt jump starter! Running smoothly but no air bleed off while engine idling. Drove it for about 3 miles, no change, runs great but why no air bleed? It's an A3 with Allison auto
