Probably easier to get a 408 or 412 with a diesel already in it, as all your going to do is drop the value of the Unimog by introducing non-standard parts requirements. The diesel S404's had a really lousy MB Diesel in them, the 408-412 series had better engines. The gas Unimogs aren't too bad if you don't feed them ethanol in the gas, but mine's dead right now with a failed carb and electric fuel pump due to the darned ethanol eating everything up.
