Hello,

I have a 53 M38A1 that was wireless, before I finish the harness does wire 18 connect to the female side or male side of the dimmer switch? I believe using the schematic in TM 9-8014 it is connected to the male side with wire 16 connected to the female. Just need reassurance before I fry something. Thanks, Drew

Usually a wire with power ("hot") will have a female connector.
In your case the wire from the source #16, should be female and wires #17 and #18 males going to the head lights regardless of the application.
Probably won't help you much, just thought I'd toss it in.

Hello,

For anyone who should ever ask, wire 16 or the "hot" wire on an M38A1 connects to the female connector on the dimmer switch, wire 16 has a male end while wire 18 has a female connector and connects to the headlights.

Well after a couple weeks of simulated lighting strikes on my M38A1 the main wiring is finished and all checks out. Now I can focus on some less shocking work.
