What are the prices for them? And how well do they drive? How about titling them?

finally... is there one in SC I could look at?

Unless there are any re-auctions of cancelled prior sales that I am unaware-of, all of the M1163s are gone from inventory. I don't follow private sales of PMs (M1163s), but a couple that seem reliable info include the cheapest one I've seen for an operational basic PM at $22k, and another with all standard accessories (doors, top, winch or tray or spare) for "the upper $30k range" as a dodgy quote from the seller. The most expensive PM auction invoiced at nearly $60k, so I'd assume those are lower-end prices for solid vehicles, but I'm no expert. I'd say it's what you and the seller are willing to agree-on. It is no different than any used car or truck, that condition, anything non-functional or missing, etc, plays a big part in final value.

I love driving my M1163 when I can. Unlike many MVs, they are suitable for casual driving, and most maintenance parts are available commercially. I was immediately comfortable as it is nearly identical to the Willys or Samurai, but feels heavier and more and powerful. Relatively, it's a beast in a box. However, I have done extensive inspection, maintenance and repairs myself (for safety and function), and paid for important stuff like 4-wheel alignment, so handling is more predictable. They are a lot of fun around town and off-road, although interstate highway speeds are a bit of a pucker-factor (for me) with the short wheelbase. Unlike most MVs they have plenty of power to peg the speedometer, but my anxiety climbs rapidly near and above highway limits. If the Willys or Samurai were this fast, they'd probably have similar feeling. This is all random personal judgment, so the next owner may have very different perspective, also influenced by their vehicle's condition, maintenance, setup, etc.

Titling, registration, tags and insurance for me was easy (almost, see other posts) like any other truck, but every state and county is different, e.g., California title may be a no-go from what I've heard. As these are USMC, they do not have the off-road-only title restriction other branches do. Research your local procedures and laws carefully, so you're prepared before you hit any hurdles. For random example, I titled my first PM as "M1163 ITV-PM", which was cool IMO but would have been a few less phone calls with insurance agents and a bit cheaper if I had titled it as a "Growler" (commercial vs military implication).

I don't know about availability of any PMs, anywhere specifically, but a post in the wanted-to-buy here and on GrowlerForum can't hurt in finding leads. I expect to make my 2nd PM a semi-daily-driver (after maintenance and prep) and I love mine. IMO it is definitely more fun than the Willys in some ways, and I get gawkers, waves and thumbs-ups on every outing. I hope that helps, and good luck in finding yours!

This thread spurred my interest in what's out there, and the pickings are understandably slim for a rare modern vehicle. Also consider many were exported after auction, which reduces the number available in the USA and the number of operational vehicles as a fraction. Estimates are less than 100 operational PMs were auctioned (2 per US state, average) of the approximately 150 produced, and fewer with the exports. I have no reasonably accurate numbers for that, so I'm following estimates.

The longer M1161 LSV is far more common, with private listings or sales between $22K and $42K for vehicles listed in operating condition or better. The short M1163 PMs were made in far fewer numbers (about 1-in-3), and so appears to carry a premium for both popularity and rarity. Only two current M1163 PM ads I could find in a few minutes of searching, for $40K and $45K respectively, with no accessories, tops or doors. More info and data is welcome to add-to or correct this small bit I've done casually.

One of the rare surplus MV’s on the market....
I have one of each
Ah, so you have both the Sport and Limo versions? ;) Curiously, and before I ever came along, my state vehicle licensing division had already categorized the General Dynamics ITV as "Sport Utility Truck".
