I just bought a nice old dome light off of ebay. I am posting the ebay reference, since I don't have photos yet. When I get them I will update this thread.

Does anyone recognize this item? Any idea of which truck this was used in.
Could someone please see if the part number shows up in your M35 -P TM.

It did not show up in the M54 TM's.
It does show up in WBParts - Aircraft parts, military parts, NSN, National Stock Numbers, avionics, connectors, Aircraft parts and components, but does not have an NSN.

I am primarily interested in installation pics. I know I can improvise something,
but it looks like it had a nice but unusual tipe of installation with three rubber bumpers.

Thanks for any info,
Bruce

I know what they are out of...........M-577 command Post tracked vehicles. I have a bunch
of them myself. The red lens stuff was all earlier issue back before every soldier was privy to
get night vision equipment. The red light effects your night vision less than other colors in the
light spectrum. So getting in and out of vehicles with these lenses did not make it as hard for
your eyes to adjust. Then when night vision goggle got to be higher use items the military found
that the red lights flared the optics when entering areas lit with this color light and that was why
the newer Generations of vehicles aircraft etc. use Blue illumination. The M-577 was a variant
of the M-113 family of APC's. So just as white was used to paint the inside of earlier armored
that were of steel construction and armored vehicles today are usually Sea Foam Green it has to
do with what works for the given environment of light reflectivity. The white was usually used on steel
vehicles and the green on aluminum as a side note.

Thanks guys!
Popacom: Would you happen to have a picture of the bracket that this puppy slides into?
The rubber feet like mounts were pretty much history, but for now I substituted some little
rubber feet I had from a piece of computer equipment, so all I need to do is make some kind of bracket for it.

Thanks,
Bruce
