door lock mechanism needed

anyone have a spare passenger side door lock mechanism? the outside handle no longer works (the gears in the door are stripped) and the inside BARELY works. anyone????

Let me check. I have a pair of rough looking doors in the basement, the lock mechanism may still be good.

Lee, the door mechs are easy to fix. I had the same problem with my pass side. It opened fine from inside but would not from the outside handle. After pulling it from the door, it was appairent what was wrong with it. Over years of use the paw that the outside handle uses to push the latch back had become worn and would pass over the striking plate on the latch. The striking plate on the latch has a bent over end that catches against the paw. The fix was to clamp the latch open and put a simple weld tack on the ear of the door paw so that it would not slide under the strike plate. Mine has been working great for 6 months since I put the weld on it. Good luck.

I have what appears to be a working door latch. Give me a few days to get it out and I'll send it to you.
