DRASH units are increasingly showing up at auction, but details on the generators seem non-existent. Anyone had any experience with the generators? Brand? Reliability, Etc?

Good luck. I searched and even knew some DRASH and BASE-X reps but could never get them to cough one up. Finally got a set on CD from a guy that had been a gen repair specialist. Not sure what I did with it but it's around here somewhere. Besides, I was going to buy another system but now that everyone just found out about them, I'm gonna have to sell the manuals for $5K to afford another one. Oh well, so much for it being a well kept secret.

I bought a DRASH J-tent and HP-J4 trailer with a 5.5kw diesel Lombardi generator with 4 hours on it. I have a manual for this trailer and generator if you need it pm me.

I was researching this several days ago. Look for '1006307 HP-2C-18 UST.pdf' on the Drash web site. This manual covers the 18KW units but it should be the same as the 20KW ones. These are 12 wire gens- therefor you 'should' be able to convert to a 120/240 config. There is a diagram on page 0065-23. What I can't tell is if the winding connections are accessible to alter the connections.

I cared more when there was an auction in progress and I stopped caring altogether when I saw two of them sell for $4k each, about 300 hours on them. Way too rich for me.

If you can find the posts that were done on the single phase conversion of the MEP-004 then these 12 lead machines will be similar. All things being equal there will be a reduced rating KW and there will be a bunch of controls work needed to make the gages read correctly. If I was doing it I would check to see if the existing voltage regulator could be used, otherwise replace it with one for single phase and I would probably just install new CTs and gages to read the the single phase output. All the engine controls should be okay as is.

Yes some have gone pretty high price. I have inspected them from time to time and like the other stuff some are mint and some are pretty abused. $4k is about half of new for a quality enclosed 15 - 20 Kw machine. Of course the trailer is worth something too. Plus the HVAC unit can be sold or scrapped. I think the parts will not be easy to find used and probably expensive new. I would like to see one of those gens removed from the trailer. They are built up and over the trailer fenders. They have a lot of nice breakers installed.

I just bought one. We will see. I am going to use a Deep Sea controller to set it up for auto start. Also planning on setting it up to be switchable between single and 3 phase. Will post info when I get it done.
