Question for you guys. Does the M1008 run continuously in 4-Wheel drive, or do you have to lock the rear wheels to engage the system. I know that newer trucks have the shifter within the cab to convert from 2 to 4 wheel drive. How is this done on the CUCV?

Thanks,

Steve

Mine has instructions on the inside of the drivers visor!

Otherwise stop lock the front hubs and then put transfer case in 4hi or 4lo and put transmission back in drive and proceed!

Also covered in the TM 9-2320-289-10 Operators Technical Manual.

this a manually operated truck. You manually have to lock the front hubs and manually engage the transfercase.

Thank you guys. The manual answered just about everything.
The TM's answer your questions correctly also , not somebody's guess cause "that's how they alwats done it ".
Good to see you took our advice on the TM. For whatever reason it seems their is a large portion of the membership that flat out refuse to read them .

It also a good idea to spend some time in the CUCV forum reading random threads . It may not have anything to do with any problems you currently have , but it will get you familiar with what problems arise and how to fix them . The more you understand how they work the better , especially when they break in the middle of nowhere and there is no internet access to come here for answers.

This is a link to a related thread by the OP ; Read the TM Hopefully all those whine about being told to read the TM will read it . But I doubt many will as it seems they really don't what to learn about their vehicle and expect instant answers , with little to no effort on their own .

It is nice to see a new member like somepriests who actually read the TM before making a bad puchess .
