Engine stop leak stuff

Hello SS,
What are your general thoughts about some of the engine stop leak additives out there?
The rear crank seal on the GMC 302 is leaking and I have never used any of this stuff, any good or will it cause harm?

While replacing the transmission in the GMC the last time figured I would replace the original rear main seal, install a new oil pump and check the bearings. After removing the rear main bearing cap to get to the seal, noticed that the crank surface that the seal road on was pitted. Tried to clean the crank surface the best I could and replaced the seal (rope type), the new seal started to leak in a short time. This is not a serious leak, just a couple drops of oil on the shop floor after a run.

I'm running the truck this weekend to the Newport News show and will be a 350 mile trip, thought this could be an opportunity to see if could help?

I have only used alumaseal for coolant leaks I always repair for leaks that go beyond the class two leak you described. If it is not visibly forming drops every couple of minutes or a faster leak the Army says to keep running it and check the fluids often.

Like ArmyMan, I am only familiar with stopleak additives for coolant, but I would never use any type of stop leak additive in any vehicle. You'll never get it all out.

See if there is a speedy sleeve available. It's a thin sleeve you push onto the crank. Makes it good as new.
