Ether Primer for Military Generators

Ether is a last resort starting method.

Unless it is sub-zero any diesel engine with hot batteries, good fuel and air should start.

Canned starting fluid is the same thing and a small squirt in the air intake should crank a cold diesel.

If you just want one for looks there are plenty of them on the 900 series trucks that are being parted out at Camp Shelby, MS.

SS member csmdavis is the big dog down there for 900 series parts.

I think my local CarQuest has the orange can of ether. It is used on other diesel engines. There is nothing wrong with ether when *cold* but I've never needed it. You are much better off with a block heater. I see one site online that has them for about $20 too...;-)
