Better get some gallons of other fluids. DRMO is known to drain everything. Check trans, transfer, axles and so forth. I've even gotten one with the steering box drained.

I was down at the DRMO last month and did the 145 point inspection. If my EUC was approved I would have driven it to the nearest gas station and just topped it off there. It's just a little low on the dip stick. All other fluids were recently replaced and topped off.

The guard it came from was even nice enough to put 11 new Michelin XL 11R20's on it before they trailered it to the DRMO. They still have the nibs on em!

Dang, 11 new radials? What a great get! Sounds like you've done all the leg work in advance. Let us know how the retrieval goes!

Well, I thought everything was going great. Put new batteries in it. Fired up and ran smooth. The brakes need to be bled. Pedal is low. Has good brakes though. Warmed it up to temp and noticed that anytime I idle it up gray/white smoke billows out the stack. Oh boy.

Blew the seal on the turbo and it blew 2 gallons of oil out the stack before I could even get to the front gate at the base. I fogged the ENTIRE base. Few MP's were not happy. Could not see anything behind me. I at least got it off base. Sitting here at work waiting for the tow company to call so I can meet them and have it towed home.

So I get to take the turbo off and see what's wrong with it. Hopefully the seal is just bad. Maybe the return line is clogged though.

Anyone else have this happen ever?

Matt;
I concur with R 4X4. It's a head gasket. The turbo could have gone at the same time (explaining how you smogged the base). You'll probably need to get a remanned turbo. Replacing the seals can be quite a hassle without the guarantee of getting the seals to seat properly.

After further inspection there was so much oil coming out of the turbo it leaked all over the starter and that side of the engine.

I'm going to pull the turbo when I get time and drop it off and see if it's bad and get it rebuilt if it is. The truck still had good oil pressure even though it was low on oil. I did detect a knocking as I was idling it into it's parking spot.

Is it possible I took out the bearings and it's rod knock?

Anyone change out the crank bearings in the frame? I seriously don't want to be doing that.

Blew it up before I even had the chance to adjust the fuel screw.
