Extra steel in bed?

Have this on the back of my bed floor. One of the guys at the rally in June said they hadn't seen anything like it. There were also two bolts on either side of the steel through the bed floor that I already cut off. Any ideas fellers?

Exactly. In pic #3 you can see one of the holes where there was a carraige bolt, 4 total to the out board of the metal piece. ???

A lip to hold a set of ramps to load a vehicle/skid steer in?

The lip is in the middle though, not the outside where one would think ramps would be. The steel isn't all that thick either.

Maybe it was to keep the ramps spread apart and they wedged between the side of the bed, and a pin or bar slid into it to help hold them in place?

Could be. Either way, it's coming out. Wanna start cleaning the bed up to get it lined.

I had the same bracket on mine when I got it. The back of mine had brackets that prevented the tailgate from opening all the way. I cut them off and moved on.

I believe it is or was used to keep an item from sliding out the back if traveling up a grade... if not then maybe for ramps... just my 2c...

Wow Andrew, those look like hitch receivers X 3. Wonder what that mod was for?
