I see on GovPlanet that there are very few M923A2's for sale.
Does anyone know if they are running out of them?
I still want to buy one.
I hope I did not miss the boat on these.

For what it's worth, there are currently 12 listed on eBay (some modified, but most are stock.) Obviously you will pay a higher price for those, but at least you don't have to deal with title issues.

Welcome to Steel Soldiers! I don't have any official information but from what I've seen, I think you missed the boat on being able to bet on getting a cheap one. There still seems to be a good amount of them out there but they aren't giving them away like they were a couple years ago.

I should also point out that when I did my search on eBay, I specifically typed in M923A2. If you just look under "Military vehicles" you will see all of the available M939 variants (and there are plenty of trucks to choose from.) There's one seller on there with 25 trucks for sale.. You pick. Starting bid is $5900.

I won a running 923A2 from Ft. Riley last week for $2100, however I'll be putting two new tires on it before I can bring it home. One of my co-workers lost the bid on three trucks in a row today when they all blew past $4k. The only difference between what I won and what he lost is they had nice paint and no flat tires. If you don't mind coming to fly-over country to get your truck, and you have some sweat equity to spend then you can find some deals.

That nice looking tan M923A2 put a rod through the block 6 miles off post. I was talking to the guy at the Sapp's truck stop where they had stopped for fuel with the deceased truck on a flatbed. I came *that* close to chasing that truck at auction . I feel like I dodged a bullet.

I just got back to Tucson from Ft Riley last night, two 5tons on towbars.

Thats a heck of a trip! I hate to hear someone got burned on a buy. I figure most people find there way to SS in one way or another, so thats probably one of us. As for my green machine, I just need mine to make it back to Wichita so I can do some extensive PM. 451195_6002_160_0001.jpg

Come to think of it.......... My co-worker did chase that truck a bit. I'll let him know what happened.

Geez.. That's rough. Hopefully that guy plans on parting it out, and not just scrapping it.

There are MV listed here on S.S. in the classifieds for sale. Many have clear titles, have been run by members, had mods done to them, and are reasonably priced............Just sayin, ya know?

With prices being what they are, it wouldn't be a bad idea to take a look at a SS member's ride. I just purchased a truck thru 98G and it was listed as a non runner, and is a very straight, complete M923A0. I spent $350 on batteries, $160 on fuel to drive it home, and $169 on lug nuts. Pulled the radiator today because of heat issues, and was quoted $750 to rod and vat the radiator. This does not include coolant, thermostat, and other required fluids/filters to get it up to snuff. Also, it needs about $1000 of misc parts replaced like mirrors, shackles and such.

And the truck will not bring more than $6000 in the current market. My point is you can inspect, drive and climb all over a truck that is in private hands, and it will already be titled and easily taken home. An auction truck can be a virtual Pandora's box, whether it is the condition of the truck, or whatever GP decides to mutilate after the auction ends. You just never know until you get it home.

And I felt like we did really well this round with the 3 trucks...........

M923A2 Closing Auction Price Data

I don't know what the future holds, but I can give some insight to the recent past. The tables below present closing auction price data for M923A2's sold by GP between November 2014 and August 2015.

Please note that the closing auction prices reported herein do not include fees, taxes or any other cost incurred by the highest bidder. Also, no consideration is given to vehicle condition (like the ability to throw a rod 6 miles from post) or optional equipment that can significantly impact closing auction prices.

I was at Ft Riley a week ago to help with a pick up and they had easily 100 M939 series trucks right around us there for future sales.
CO national guard still owns many, don't know when they may get rid of those.
