Surprisingly, the 3.08s are not too bad. I don't really care about acceleration and I don't drive on the highway so it's fine for me. If I find a cheap 3/4 ton set of axles I might upgrade though :D

I love the blazer platform no matter what year it is. I've got a '73 with the fully removable hard top.

Skip the 3.73's if you wanna do some serious off road playing with the 35's and go to at least 4.11.

I've got 35's and 3.73's on my blazer right now, and have been running them for years the only thing I don't like is the load that they put on my turbo350.

I've got a set of 3/4 ton running gear that I'm going though and installing 4.88's and ARB's in with plans of putting some 38's on.

Remember he has a 6.2L diesel. It's not a rev motor and without OD he's best off with some 3.73 gears or 4.10 gears at the max if he doesn't want to be deafened when trying to go down the road.

I've got 4.56's and 38's and it's still very low geared.

Maybe this will help in your decision on what gears you want to run..

With a turbo350, 3.73 gears and 35" tall tires my engine turns about 3000 rpm at 60 mph. Figure that there is about 200 - 300 rpm higher due to the slip of an automatic tranny.

I'm not sure what the Rev limit is on the 6.2L. and what tranny you have and if it's and auto, does it have a lock up torque converter.

So both the 350 and the 400 have a 1.00 third gear so the tranny wont have an effect on the final rpm. And the more I think about it 3000 rpm at 65mph is more accurate.

Engine Code: LH6 and LL4
Displacement: 6.2L / 379 ci.
Bore x Stroke: 3.98 x 3.80 (in.)
Block / Head: Cast iron / Cast iron
Aspiration: Natural
Valvetrain: OHV 2-V
Compression: 21.5:1
Injection: Indirect
Power / Torque (at start): 130 hp (97 kW) @ 3,600 rpm / 240 lb·ft (325 N·m) @ 2,000 rpm
Horsepower / Torque (at final): 143 hp (107 kW) @ 3,600 rpm / 257 lb·ft (348 N·m) @ 2,000 rpm
Max RPMs: 3,600

Max power occurs well below the redline of 3600; IIRC, the power tapers off after mid-2k range?
