No spare, and no way to swap, drove it to the bottom of the trail and then crawled home on the rim.

Are these trucks supposed to have a jack for the spare? Maybe a military bottle jack? anybody know where to get one?

We just have bottle jacks in ours. We picked up a couple of 20-ton (way overkill) jacks at Lowes and keep one in each truck. We got the 20-ton so it will lift the XM817 when loaded.

I saw a lot of rocks there to use for changing tires. You do not have to have a jack but you do have to have a lug wrench.
You can hang one set of axles off of those rocks and get to a spare.
Then you can push the front diff up on a rock to put the spare on the front.
You have 4 spares on the rear.
Make sure you read up on that Sprag transfer.

The sprag transfer was working awesome! truck did great, I have been wheeling for a while in my fords so I am no stranger to flexing out or getting creative in changing a tire. But, we had no lug wrench either, I didnt even have a socket in that size. Anybody know what size it is? and what size breaker bar do you recommend to leave in the truck to get it off when in the wild?

I guess, I should get an air hose fitting for the gladhand in back and bring an impact too. First time out, and it was just the hills behind my house so was not too worried.

One of these days I'll geta pneumatic bottle jack and an impact wrench for the lugs. For now I have a lug wrench from NAPA and a 20 ton bottle jack. A four foot cheater bar makes life a lot easier too. Doing it by hand is a pain, but it will always work.

1 1/2", i use a 1/2" impact gun.
I tried taking the lug nuts off my Deuce when I first got it with a 1/2" CN impact wrench with 1/4" air hose to the gladhand and the nuts wouldn't budge. I upgraded to 1/2" air line and two came loose. I then spent some money and got a 3/4" CN impact wrench with 1/2" line to the gladhand and no more problems.

You can get a socket that has the 1 1/2 inch up front and the bud nut deeper in it for changing the rears. I keep that, a crappy 1/2 inch impact and a nice breaker bar/cheater pipe in the tool box. Runs great off the glad hand. I found a 12 ton bottle jack works great too. I keep a couple pieces of 2x4 and 2x10 in the box as spacers in case of flex.
