Well I bought 1 finally ,haven't seen it yet. 69213 miles. Now 4 going and getting it to see "what all is wrong with her" suposedly its got a bad fuel pump but is running. "I pray that's all it is" Prolly be doing the pickup Monday or Tuesday. I cant believe it went for as much as It did, but who said this was a cheep hobby??? um, "only people that doesnt do it".

Hopefully that bad fuel pump doesn't turn into a bad injector pump.

Looks solid in the photo...hopefully it works out. As a rule of thumb, most of these rigs will need $1-2k worth of work right out of the gate to be reliable. Of course you may get one that has had the big ticket items taken care of. Receipts are good proof of that. Most notably are IP, batts, gens, anything rubber, and fixing electrical gremlins.

Be sure to do the starter relay mod to your M1008 if it has not been done yet.

yep thnx guys I shurley hope it isnt gonna take 1-2 k to get her up and going since i gave so much for it. I was only planning on spending 2500 on upgrades n such max, not to make servicable. Yes im planning on the dh relay mod being right behing a complete liquid change and grease job n filters oh and fuel pump and filters 4 that as well. Im not kissing butt here but hail to DH for figuring out all the crap a guy needs to do to make more use out of the 1008.

Skinny I have a set of 37's for new shoes and i have a trans pack w filter 4 the tranny already I am under the assumption that the battery's are there and functional, "only cucv i've seen that said in running condition" ever. With lady luck on my side its just a 50 dollar fuel pump n a $9.50 fuel filter...... but as you said im kinda expecting the "fuel pump" to be the IP taking a crap....

Good luck bro. Concentrate on fuel delivery, fuel filter spin-on mod, tank cleanup, checking sender. This was my main problem. Coffin filter sucked, sender dirty. Good Luck

Well I think I got very lucky! The truck runs like a champ, I have got the engine oul and filter changed. I have also changed the tranny oil and filter, now fot the t-case and differentials. I have pulled the old seat out and cleaned out the cab "wow" It was terribly dirty under there... Only problem that I have found so far is I think the glow plug relay has went bad, instead of 1 definate click when they cycle on ther's a lot of lighter clicks about a half second apart.. Other than that It seems to be in great shape.. Oh its had an auxilary fuel pump installed next to the tank, I have no idea why anyone would do that instead of replacing the mechanical pump on the engine that costs $20 but hey i'll change the mechanical pump and use the electric one for my transfer tank!! Just love saving money!!!

The electric pump makes bleeding the fuel system a piece of cake. It's a good upgrade. We had a debate about that a while back here. I asked people who favor the mechanical pump to give me just ONE advantage of the mechanical over the electric. Only ONE person had an actual advantage - the mechanical pump isn't susceptible to EMP. That's it. ONE (meaningless) advantage.

well I do want to fix the mec pump and I can definatly see your point as to where a electric pump could have some advantages, but both together dosent seem like it is very benefitial especially all the time being on and making the god awfull racket it makes!

I see why that truck cost so much, it came with a JACK! And a HANDLE!! WOW! I had almost forgotten what they looked like. Nice truck! If you go with the mech. pump do NOT buy the cheap $20 one! I don't care if they warrenty them for life, Who wants to change them every 6-12 months? Go with an AC Delco or NAPA you pay more up front but it will last for years. ( Or use the electric one )

well I got my fuel pump "napa" cost me $18. I want to get a spin on filter and base but my finances at the moment are not allowing for said modification. I am also contemplating leaving the electric pump on as a back up for the mechanical unit, only I'll run it through a toggle switch so its not running all the time. This should allow for easy bleeding of a spin on filter and a secondary fuel delivery method.

randybill I bought mine off of gsa It was in Oklahoma and wasn't even near the location it was supposed to be at it was on the complete other side of the state 358 miles to be exact.

Oh I have almost got my lift done, It doesnt rub under most circumstances, Only minor at full lock with the opposing side in the air. "woo hoo" Many of you may laugh and snicker and such but I used a set of m-818 front springs that I had the 3-4th springs are perfect length and make for aprox 4.5 inches of lift as well as adding alot of beef to the front end for added weight such as a winch. I removed the stock bottom spring and added 2 from the "bobber" kit I had from my m-52. now I just need a set of 3.5 -4 inch blocks and u-bolts for the rear. Before anyone asks, It actually rides better now since I installed the "much" heavier springs..

actually I used 2 on each side and It actually rides smoother, theres almost no flex now but the up and down bounce is way less jarring, my shocks are blown and probably have been since the late 80's haha but It actually rides MUCH better, and seems to be a slight amount more stable on the road now as well. That may just be the difference in the 235's and the 37"s though. "NEED SHOCKS AND A DUAL STEERING STABILIZER", Only thing I have noticed is at full right hand lock, the tire rubs the steering arm slightly. I will adjust the steering lock nut on the drivers side to correct this. "It just barely rubs".
