Fixin' a door handle.

My son and I are fixing up his M-109(?) Shop Van. Since it's sitting in my driveway, I can work on it more than he can and I'm retired.
Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get the door latch and handle out of the driver's-side door. I realize if I take all the screws out it should drop into the door, but if there's a right way to do it, I'd like to know. Things like does the window need to be up or down? Don't remove this screw or that one cuz you'll never get things back in? I read through the "Duce" section for this info but after going through 10 pages I noticed there are like almost 1,000 total.

Do it with the window up, or even take the window out. It's not that difficult honestly.
