All, just posting what I did to fix my seams on my rubber jump mat. The threads were snapping loose and the seams were starting to split. I asked a local boat cover maker to sew the seams back, but her machine was not big enough to fit under, so she gave free advice and some vinyl seam tape (non adhesive).
I masked off the width of my tape and applied the adhesive to the mat seams and the tape (T=0 minutes).
at T=4 minutes I pulled the masking tape.
at T=10 minutes I used a low power heat gun to warm up an inch of the tape and an inch of the mat adhesives. Then stuck the two together. The glue was barely no longer tacky…. Heat made them sticky again but only the small section that I heated. This allowed me to handle the tape as we went inch by inch.
I then, with my friends Help heated and appear the tape inch by inch.
on a side note, I painted my vinyl with Duplicolor and hope the glue sticks. I plan to paint Duplicolor over the seams later.
