FLU-419 assistance needed

I purchased a FLU419 and drove it home 65 miles @40mph. everything is good on the machine but the lights didn't work, well after getting the headlight, turn signals, hazards lights working the oil pressure gauge is not working, it did before I started, the coolant temp is working, when I cut the switch on the gauge moves (powers up) but does not read the oil pressure, I was using it the other day and it started working then stopped, all the electrical wiring on it I don't know where to start. I already went thru the fuze panel again and made sure I was getting power thru the fuzes and good contact now I'm stumped? Any ideas?
Thanks

Welcome. The only disease worse than the green machine disease is the Unimog disease.

The intermittent is probably the oil pressure sensor. It's easy to check. On the OM-352 engine the oil pressure sensor is along the left side (drivers side) of the engine block, about halfway back. It's below the dipstick for the power steering fluid and in front of the starter. Sit in the drivers seat with the doghouse cover off and you can see and reach it.

From the screw contact on the end of the sensor measure the resistance to ground (the block) and see it's about 20 Ohms. You will probably find much higher than that if the sensor is bad. Occasionally the sensor threads lose electrical contact with the block due to sealant, so use an open end wrench and tighten the sensor, screwing and unscrewing to make electrical contact. Check resistance again. If still much higher than 20 Ohms then the sensor is probably bad. I'd suggest removing it completely and cleaning the contacts, then check it again wit the meter.

Have you joined the online Unimog groups? Lots to learn there. Look up Benzworld/Unimog at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/unimog/

One source of the oil pressure sensor is http://www.expedition-imports.com/

(I do not have an FLU-419 but many systems are the same as a 406 Unimog when you are searching for stuff.)

Try cleaning all the fuses and making sure they have a good connection those fuses are notorious for corroding a little bit an causing problems.
Thanks, i did that first, i worked on duetz tractors that had the same fuzes and you learn that pretty quick. I ohmed out the sender and it was bad, got it out and one of the lugs was turning in the sender so i guess i will get a new sender.

I did, everything was where he said it was, and test showed exactly what he said on good or bad. I rather stay around here with the question instead of going to another site, kinda used to this group....

Funny you said that as that was my first experience with those fuses in my fathers old duetz....

Sorry for asking here but I'm a new Unimog FLU419 owner and I'm new to this website and don't see how to post a new question. Can anyone tell me how to check the power steering fluid in a FLU419? Mine screeches a little when you turn the steering wheel. And I don't know how to check the oil. Thanks!
