I realize that 50 is about top speed anyway, but could there be something wrong with the tire? Can these tires be balanced?

If the tire has or had a leak for any time in it most likely the inside wall is coming appart . It happened to mine. There is pictures on here somewhere. I'll see if I can dig them up.

There could be sidewall damage in the tire. But as far as ballancing goes, a lot of OTR trucks throw golf balls inside the tires to balance the tires out. The heavy side of the tire slings the tire outwards, causing the golf balls to drift 180* from the heavy side causing the tire to "balance". There's also commercial tire products like "equal" that does the same thing.

You said wobble. I agree tire is probally the issue. I would check the free play on the bearings. Jack up that tire and make sure it's not in the hub.

Yes, the front end looks like it is shaking from left to right. I will check the bearing. Is that a hub or separate bearing and race. If bearing and race what is the preload or is it just by feel?

I can't speak specifically for the A3, but it's going to be similiar to the A2. The hub is held in place with to lock nuts and a tabbed washer. There is a inner and outer bearing that the hubs spins on.

I can't feel so I use a torque wrench. 50 ft lbs then back a 1/8 off and torque the lock nut to 175 ft lbs.
