I have a M931A2. Couple of questions concerning the front wheel drive system. I have read the ops manual and looked over the TM. When I put the transfer case in low range, I do not get a front drive light indication, or any other lights for that matter. It takes a bit of jockeying around to get it into low as well. If it is in high, I can selective and the engaged light comes on. I can't tell the difference in feel whether it ever really goes into front drive. I read a few of the posts, especially about taking the big washer off the linkage so the driver has to select front drive in either transfer case range. Still need a relatively easy way to tell whether the front is engaged or not. The tires are not scuffing at all-- they look perfect, so I believe it is disengaged normally.
And, I want to thank neverenufhp for the Cummins tips-- All I did was turn up the fuel under the cap plug 5 turns. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Even for a 5 ton, it ain't quite the slug it was. It makes it a lot easier to drive when it now gets out of its own way. Now if I can get the trans to shift just a mite quicker without standing on the pedal all the time.
