Does anybody have a source for the canister fuel filter gaskets? Changed the canister gasket and the Wix filter only came with the top outer bowl gasket, I reused the gasket for the top of the filter. Also is there a gasket for the bottom of the fuel bowl where the bolt goes through.

I sell the NOS wix filters from military stock and i will say all of them just have the bowl gasket. On the other hand i had a few of the Onan/cummins/Lister petter filters that contained a whole gasket set. Although not a fan usually of Fram i had 5 of those filters and they also contained the whole gasket kit FRAM C11941

There is a whole thread on this, but the short answer is it is a dash 202 o-ring available from a
many suppliers. e.g. McMaster-Carr.

In general, you can measure the o-ring size and turn it into a standard SAE size via table like this one;

It seemed like it was a flat washer but I'll get some of those Dash o-rings for the next filter change. For the filter bowl I checked for a manufacturer stamp but couldn't find one so now I'm stuck on that bushing.

The fuel filter assembly has three kinds of gaskets.
Top to bottom:
1) the thin outer o-ring between the outer bowl and the filter mount.
2) the thick, wide inner gasket/washer between the filter and the housing, (usually comes with the filter)
3) the two, small o-rings either side of the spring on the bolt. (Dash 202)
Are you talking about the large flat washer on top of the filter that should come with the filter, or the two little ones?
You may have a different filter assembly than me, but the anodized red filter bowl looks the same to me. It is also possible that what you have is something different.

FWIW: The dash 202 o-rings have an inner diameter just smaller than the bolt shaft.

I've been looking for the thick washer but no luck, I may have to pull the used one out of my housing to measure it to see what I can come up with. It looks like it was a flat rubber washer. I ordered the dash 202 o-rings, my housing didn't have the second o-ring for the bolt but it did have a spring which isn't shown in the drawing.

I'd bring it into your local auto parts or Napa store, as it isn't too fancy, just needs to be diesel compatible.

The spring is required to keep the filter in place, so it is great that you have it. The one of the small o-rings helps keep dirty fuel from bypassing the filter, the other keeps the filter from leaking.

Dug this up from one of my old posts in a different thread:


Wix 33348 canister cartridge comes with the large diameter o-ring for the edge of the bowl.

The pair of small rubber washers/gaskets that go around the bolt were both in Wix 15398 (gasket kit). I couldn't find any locally, so I ordered some online from RockAuto.

It's probably been 5 years since I bought a handful of those, so you may need to look around for other sources.

Just a little follow up, I can not find those fuel filter gaskets anywhere (Wix 15398 gasket kit) , the parts house don't cross reference them and nobody can order them. I would like to change my reused one on the filter that I have but I guess that will have to wait till the next filter change. I did get the dash 202 o-rings and they seem to work well for the bottom of the fuel canister and the bottom of the fuel bowl. Bottom line is make sure you order a new fuel canister filter that comes with all the o-rings!

Since you have one, you could consider trying McMaster-Carr with the dimensions, or get some diesel compatible gasket material and cut one.

A few online vendors have it supposedly in stock.

Are 1 or 2 of these small round gaskets required? I ordered a WIX 33472 and I noticed afterwards there was an extra gasket in the box.
You need to have two of the tiny o-rings (Dash 202); the lower one keeps fuel in the cartridge, and the upper one keeps dirty fuel from bypassing the filter. The TM has an exploded diagram, (Figure 3-12 from the -24 manual posted above; #3 are the two small o-rings).

I couldn’t figure out how to edit the last post. I just realized that I was confusing the primary spin on filter with the cartridge for the auxiliary pump. I didn’t want anybody to read the part number that I posted above and head down the wrong path. I was referring to the gasket for the primary filter. Please disregard.

Thanks for confirming. I couldn't tell for sure in that picture. Oddly enough, I bought 4 of these filters from Rock Auto. Three of them had one o-ring and only one had two.
My impression is that the little o-rings last longer, but I defer to folks who have lots of long term experience with generators. To my mind the top (large) and first small o-rings are the critical ones as they prevent unfiltered diesel from heading on to the injection pump and the injectors. A pack of a 50-100 dash 202 o-rings would last many folks a long, long time.

2pbfeet, that's my thinking too about those two gaskets, I have a green viton o-ring that I am using and it seems to work fine, I'll give it some run time and check it to see if it's holding up to the fuel. I checked the website for everything truck parts and they have the gasket set for $ 4.77 with a shipping cost of $17.99, I'll pass. I can't seem to find a flat o-ring with the dimensions of the larger o-ring on McMasters-Carr, maybe someone here can figure that out. Funny how a little o-ring can put this generator out of service!

You might try looking under Viton/fluoroelastomer gasket material, or pipe gasket, e.g. something like this one;

McMaster shipping is not always all that cheap, but it is usually quick.

FWIW: I think this is the one I bought and it came with both gaskets (top and bottom), though only one is shown in the photo.
